Generating B2B Social Media Followers

How To Help Generate B2B Social Media Followers

It is important to look at your followers or audience at the forefront of your social media marketing plan. There is no point in creating and posting content if there is no one to see it. It is seemingly more difficult to generate followers on a B2B social account versus B2C. This is because the way they approach their strategy is different. Content, channels, and goals are the three main things that are differentiated between the two. All three have to do with their audience. I am going to go over the 4 most crucial tactics to help generate followers for your social media channels.

4 Crucial Tactics for Social Channels

Find Your Audience

Firstly, and most importantly, understand your target audience. For you to get to know your audience you have to ask yourself a few questions. Below is a list of a few to help your understanding.
  • What is the gender, age, personality, income, likes and dislikes of your desired audience?
  • Who is most likely to be interested in your products and services?
  • How can you optimize your reach to generate followers who could be interested in your company?
  • What channels are your competitors using and what are they searching for?
  • What are the common hashtags used within your market industry and product lines?
  • What is their buying behavior?

After answering these questions for your company, you can use this information to research all social channels. Looking for B2B accounts, B2C accounts, or individual accounts who you believe can lead to a two-sided relationship. Also making sure that your current customers and or business partners are important to follow and keep up with their company. Ensuring that new relationships (followers) are two-sided will generate trust and loyalty because in the long run social media can help with the business relationship and returning customers.

Tailor Your B2B Social Media Strategy to Specific Channels

Second, pay attention to how each channel works. How do people search on that channel and what are they looking for? Hashtags are the keywords to social media. They are used on almost all channels and are very beneficial to the search of social media. They can help bring people to your page, show relevancy, and can allow you to start trending. Consistent hashtags will give your account the reach to more followers. This is highly recommended on social channels like Twitter and Instagram.

Promote, Promote, Promote

Thirdly, promote your social channels on your owned channels, for example, website, blog, and email. With these channels, you have complete ownership and control over. This is a great opportunity to show your company a large-scale digital marketing strategy to your current clients, but it also leaves room to increase referrals for your social media accounts. You can also use paid campaigns to help promote your social channels. Below is a diagram that goes over how your “owned” media can help benefit your “earned” media. In this case, earned media would be the scope of all social media followers. How they can all tie in together to benefit one another. Knowing this strategy will not only help your social media but your overall digital marketing strategy.

Tailor Your B2B Social Media Strategy to be Engaging & Authentic

Lastly, use a strategy that is engaging to help gain more followers. Authenticity and your brand's voice are going to help you immensely. This is something that is going to take time. Consistency is key when gaining an audience on social media because you can use every post on every channel as a building block of your brand.

All of these strategies can help gain followers for your B2B social media channels. Again, it takes time and it takes consistency. Just like other digital marketing strategies, it isn’t something that happens overnight. Contact Ecreative to learn more!
