Microsoft Outlook 98, Outlook 2000, or Outlook Express Setup

Please have your set-up e-mail from us which contains your username, password and mail server information on hand.

Note: We will use the domain 123widgets.com as an example domain. Please replace 123widgets.com with your domain information in the examples below.

1) Open Outlook Express
2) From the drop-down menus, select Tools, then select Accounts

3) Click the Mail tab, then click the Add button and select Mail

4) In the Display name box, enter your name as you wish it to appear for the recipient, then click next.

5) In the Email address box enter your email address (ex: userid@yourdomain.com), then click next.

6) Enter the mail server information as shown below:

In the Incoming mail (POP3) server box, enter the appropriate POP server name for your account.

POP

*mail.123widgets.com

Then, in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, enter the appropriate SMTP server name for your account.

SMTP

*mail.123widgets.com

Note: Due to problems with various ISPs (Internet Service Providers) you may not be able to connect to and thus use "mail.123widgets.com" as your outgoing mail server on the standard email port. Unfortunately, this is an issue beyond our control. ISPs known to have issues are AOL, COX, Verizon, Earthlink, Verio, Netzero, MSN, Mindspring, SBC, Yahoo and others. If you tried setting your outgoing mail server to "mail.123widgets.com," followed step 6, and were unable to send mail due to a connection error, please see the optional step 12.

7) Make sure "Log on using:" is NOT selected and enter your account name (username) and password, then click next

Note: Your password will appear as asterisks. Be sure you enter your password correctly. Passwords are case-sensitive.

8) Click Next, then click Finish.

9) Click on the Tools menu, then click Accounts again.

10) Click on the Properties menu.

11) Once in the Properties menu make sure that on the bottom the Outgoing Mail Server section My Server Requires Authentication is checked. Then click Apply

Click the "Settings" button and verify that "Use same Settings as my Incoming Server" is selected

12) Optional: Click on the "Advanced" tab and change the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" port from 25 to 587

13)You are now ready to send and receive email using Outlook Express.
